NOPD Investigating Homicide in Eighth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening in the 1600 block of Gravier Street that left one person dead.

At about 11:39 p.m. on December 16, 2020, NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of a subject down at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male victim lying near the sidewalk. EMS arrived on scene and declared the subject deceased. Through further investigation, the victim was found to have sustained multiple stab wounds. The incident was then reclassified as a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
