COPS 8 Helps Send Eighth District Leaders to Key D.C. Training

Eighth District attended specialized training hosted by International Association of Chiefs’ of Police Women’s Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C.

Detective Chantelle Davis and Commander Nicholas Gernon attended a 40 hour training on developing female leaders in police organizations. The class takes a deep dive into leadership development and the unique challenges women face in law enforcement.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Roach also attended a 16-hour class on preventing and responding to sexual harassment in police organizations.

All three students were sponsored by COPS 8 which covered all costs associated with travel and tuition.

The training demonstrates a commitment on the part of citizens to partner with NOPD to provide officers with the training necessary to create safe and productive work environments for all officers assigned to the Eighth District.

"I'd like to personally thank the leadership at COPS8 for agreeing to support this training,” said Eighth District Commander Nicholas Gernon. “I hope to bring similar training to New Orleans in the coming years to reduce the cost associated with travel and expand access for all officers in the department."
