One Arrested, One Wanted for Armed Robbery on St. Charles Avenue

From Left: Nyshawn Emery and Roosevelt Jimerson (still at large)

The NOPD has arrested Nyshawn Emery (DOB: 08-21-96) for his involvement in an armed robbery of a business that occurred on December 22, 2017. Officers are still searching for Roosevelt Jimerson (DOB: 07-16-87) who is also wanted in connection with armed robbery incident.

On Friday, December 22, 2017 at about 3:10 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to an armed robbery incident that occurred in the 2100 block of St. Charles Avenue. Once officers arrived on scene, they met with the victim and learned that two black males approached the victim, who currently was behind the bar. The suspects then demanded the victim to remove cash from the registers. The victim complied with the two black males as they instructed the victim to remove cash from different registers within the business. As the two black males were leaving the business, they then robbed the victim of his property and instructed him not to call the police.

During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to retrieve surveillance footage of the incident, which lead them to identifying Nyshawn Emery and Roosevelt Jimerson as the two perpetrators in the robbery.

On Thursday, December 28, 2017 at about 6 a.m., Sixth District detectives and the NOPD Tiger Team executed a search warrant at Emery’s residence in the 2800 block of St. Charles Avenue. Emery was taken into custody without incident during the execution of the search warrant. A search of Emery’s residence revealed several items used during the commission of the robbery including a wooden handled 357 Magnum revolver firearm with four live rounds, roughly $500.00 in different denominations and a small amount of narcotics with a digital scale.

Emery was charged with two counts of armed robbery, possession of controlled dangerous substance schedule I (marijuana) while in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substance schedule I (marijuana).

Officers have secured an arrest warrant for Roosevelt Jimerson.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Roosevelt Jimerson should contact any Sixth District detective at 504-658-6060. Citizens with information that can help solve a crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
