NOPD Seeking Felon Found in Possession of Handgun During Traffic Stop

The NOPD is searching for Darryl Williams (DOB: 03-13-1987), a convicted felon who fled from police during a traffic stop near the intersection of Hayne Boulevard and Wales Street on December 20, 2017.

At about 11 a.m., Seventh District Task Force officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection. Before officers could safely approach the vehicle, one of the occupants – later identified as Williams – fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood. Officers searched the area in an attempt to locate the passenger, but he evaded capture.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers located a loaded handgun in the immediate area where the subject who fled was located.

Williams is wanted as a felon in possession of a firearm and is also wanted for resisting arrest and on an active parole violation.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Darryl Williams is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
