NOPD Investigates Homicide on Elysian Fields Avenue

NOPD Investigates Homicide on Elysian Fields Avenue

The NOPD is investigating a homicide in the 1600 block of Elysian Fields Avenue that occurred in the early hours on Sunday (Dec. 17).

At around 2:29 a.m., Fifth District officers responded to calls of an aggravated battery by shooting. Once in the area, officers spotted an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds outside of a parking lot. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
