NOPD Arrests Two Suspects in Armed Carjacking on Milan Street

The NOPD has arrested Andrew Spikes (DOB: 01-05-2000) and Jonah Marco (DOB: 04-24-1996) in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred on Sunday, December 10, 2017 in the 1000 block of Milan Street, and are searching for additional suspects.

The two male victims told Sixth District detectives that at about 1:46 a.m., they arrived in the area and relocated to their residence when they were immediately approached by two unknown black males, each armed with a handgun. Perpetrator #1 allegedly demanded the vehicle from Victim #2, while Perpetrator #2 reportedly approached Victim #1 and pushed him towards the ground. Victim #1, who was carrying his firearm in his hand at the time, then reportedly engaged in a physical struggle with Perpetrator #2. Victim #1 stated that during the struggle, he pressed his gun against the stomach of Perpetrator #2 and fired. Perpetrator #2 then immediately fled the location on foot, running towards Camp and Milan Street. Meanwhile, Perpetrator #1 reportedly entered Victim #2’s vehicle and fled the location. During the shooting, Perpetrator #2 allegedly dropped his loaded firearm on scene. The victims did not sustain any injuries during the altercation.

Detectives learned in further investigation and interviewing witnesses that a subject was seen after the shooting walking to a waiting vehicle near the intersection of Camp and Milan streets before the vehicle fled the location.

At about 2:17 a.m., detectives were notified that a subject had arrived at an area hospital via private conveyance with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Officers arrived at the hospital and met with an individual later identified as Marco, who identified himself to detectives as the person who brought the gunshot victim – later identified as Spikes – to the hospital. Upon further questioning of Marco, detectives learned that Spikes and Marco were together in the area of the shooting prior to the incident. Spikes was positively identified as the suspect shot by Victim #1, and Marco was implicated as having driven Spikes and the second suspect to the location to allegedly commit the carjacking.

Marco was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for accessory after the fact to armed robbery with a firearm. Spikes was also arrested and, upon release from the hospital for treatment of his injuries, was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for two counts of armed robbery with a firearm. The second armed carjacking suspect remains at large.

Based on evidence uncovered during this investigation, detectives are also investigating the possibility of Marco, Spikes and additional suspects possibly being involved in additional armed robberies in the city. No further details are available in this ongoing investigation at this time.
