Suspect Wanted for Manslaughter, Possessing Drugs on Parole

The NOPD is searching for Matthew Barra (DOB: 11/08/1987) for an outstanding warrant on manslaughter charges, violating his parole and possessing drugs.

On November 5, 2016 at about 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 2300 block of A.P. Tureaud Avenue. Barra was the victim in the incident and was struck multiple times by gunfire while attempting to enter his vehicle. Barra was taken to the hospital by private conveyance. While on scene, officers discovered a clear plastic bag of what appeared to be marijuana in the victim’s vehicle.

Through the course of the investigation, officers also learned Barra had an outstanding warrant for manslaughter.
