Suspect Arrested Minutes after Robbing Elderly Woman on Alvar Street

Fifth District officers arrested Robert Offray (DOB: 12-31-1966) minutes after he snatched an elderly woman’s purse on Alvar Street.

The incident happened today (Dec.8). At around 10:20 a.m., the victim and a family member were unloading items from the victim’s vehicle when Offray approached the victim, pushed her down, and took her purse. When the victim started screaming, some nearby construction workers started chasing Offray and were able to apprehend him until officers arrived. Officers arrested Offray without incident. Offray was also in possession of the victim’s property and other possibly stolen items. 

Robert Offray was arrested for simple robbery and booked into Central Lockup.
