Suspect Arrested for Kidnapping Woman to Retrieve Cash

NOPD Seventh District officers quickly arrested Clarence Cobbs (DOB: 01-09-1962) earlier today (Dec.18) after he reportedly broke into a victim’s home, kidnapped her in an attempt to retrieve cash from the victim's debit card.

The incident happened on December 18, 2016. At around 5:15 a.m., Cobbs broke in the victim’s home through an unlocked window in the 1100 block of Chimney Wood Lane. Cobb then started to search the home for cash. Once Cobbs realized the victim was awake, he forced the victim into her vehicle. Cobb then took the victim to two gas stations in an attempt to retrieve cash from the victim’s debit card. During the kidnapping, Cobbs reportedly put the victim in the back of the trunk after she attempted to escape the first business. The victim was eventually able to escape and contact police at a local business.

Officers were able to arrest Cobbs after he was seen returning to the victim’s home to pick up the belongings he left before he kidnapped the victim.

Cobbs was arrested with aggravated kidnapping and booked into Central Lockup.
