Suspect Arrested After Crashing Stolen Vehicle in Hit and Run Accident

Seventh District officers arrested Jerome Carter (DOB: 3/21/1999) this past weekend after he crashed a stolen vehicle hours after it was taken during an armed robbery.

The incident happened on December 10, 2016. At around 7:15 p.m., the victim told police she parked her silver, 2017 Hyundai in her driveway in the 4800 block of Majestic Oaks Drive. After she parked, the victim said an unknown male approached her with a gun and demanded that she turn over her keys. She complied and the suspect drove away in her vehicle.

A few hours later, officers responded to a hit-and-run traffic crash at the intersection of Bullard Avenue and Lake Forest Boulevard. Officers learned one of the vehicles was involved in the armed robbery and that Carter, who was the driver of the vehicle, fled the scene. However, a 16- year- old juvenile was in the passenger side of the vehicle and remained on scene.

Officers eventually located and apprehended Carter at the intersection of Lake Forest and Eastover Drive. Carter was transported to the hospital after suffering from minor injuries related to the crash. Carter was later booked into CLU.

Based on the facts of the investigation, officers believe Carter was the suspect in the initial armed robbery, and officers are investigating Carter’s involvement in other reported armed robberies in the Seventh District.
