Officers Arrest Teenager, Confiscate Weapon in Two Separate Attempted Armed Robberies

Second District officers arrested a 15-year-old male Wednesday (Dec.7)  after he tried to rob two female victims at gunpoint.

The first incident happened around 11 a.m. in the 8700 block of Leake Avenue. The victim told police she was jogging in the area when an unknown male approached her and demanded her iPhone. The victim said the subject lifted up his shirt and displayed a gun. The victim said she then started running and the suspect ran after her. The victim was able to run into a business on Oak Street and the suspect then ran away in another direction.

A few hours later, officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at the intersection of Pritchard Place and Cambronne Street. When officers arrived, they located the suspect believed to be responsible for the earlier attempted armed robbery. They arrested the suspect and recovered a handgun in the 8400 block of Pritchard Place.

Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that the same suspect had approached another female victim at the intersection and attempted to rob her at gunpoint.

Officers arrested the suspect and charged him with two counts of attempted armed robbery with a firearm.
