NOPD Arrests Suspect in Attempted Armed Robbery on Pittari Place
The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) and the U.S. Marshals today (Dec. 21) arrested Jaquan Dawson (DOB: 09-25-1988) in connection with an attempted armed robbery that occurred on December 6, 2016 in the 3700 block of Pittari Place.

At about 10:30 a.m., the victim told police, he was working on his vehicle outside of his residence when a known subject he had not seen in years was walking toward his residence. At about 5:30 p.m., as the victim returned inside his residence, he heard a knock on the door and answered to see the known subject from earlier in the day. The subject asked if he could talk to the victim, and the two walked outside. As they approached the front of the residence, a second individual appeared and pointed a handgun at the victim. Both individuals then demanded the victim empty his pockets and searched him, at which time the victim stated he had nothing on his person. When the victim’s wife opened the door to call the victim back to the house, the two suspects fled on foot northbound on Pittari Place, taking nothing from the victim.

As investigation into the incident progressed, detectives were able to develop Dawson as a suspect. Dawson was arrested on December 21 at his residence and booked into Central Lockup on a charge of attempted armed robbery.
