The NOPD is asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with an armed robbery in the Fifth District.
On July 23, 2026, at about 3:00 a.m., several people were walking on Elysian Fields Avenue near the intersection of Marais street when they were confronted by an armed man on bicycle.
The subject demanded the victim's property and after a scuffle, he took the purse of one of the victims and then fled west on Marais Street.
The incident was captured by a security camera.
The perpetrator is described a Black male, approximately 5'7" tall with a medium build, dark complexion and short braids or twists. He's believed to be about 25 to 35 years of age and was wearing a transparent orange rain poncho and a black shirt.
