NOPD Investigating Homicide in Eighth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the early morning hours today (August 24, 2025) in the 600 block of Iberville Street, in the Eighth District.

At about 3:12 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the intersection of Royal and Iberville streets. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male subject who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as to identify a motive.

No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
