The NOPD today (August 21, 2024) announces clearances in two unrelated homicide investigations.
Earlier today, the NOPD arrested Levi Johnigan (black male, DOB: 04-30-1993) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on June 26, 2024, in the 4300 block of Stemway Drive
In this incident, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call at about 12:43 p.m. of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male gunshot wound victim on scene. The victim was declared deceased on scene by EMS.
Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Johnigan as the perpetrator in this incident. On June 27, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Johnigan on one count of second-degree murder. Today, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the US Marshals located and arrested Johnigan.

Also today, the NOPD obtained an arrest warrant for Jerrell J. Andrews (black male, DOB: 01-27-2000) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on August 14, 2024, at the intersection of Poland and North Johnson streets.
In this incident, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call at about 10:34 p.m. of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male gunshot wound victim on scene. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital. On August 18, the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital, at which time the incident was reclassified as a homicide.
On August 20, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office positively identified the victim as 27-year-old Evans Page and determined preliminary cause of death to be from gunshot-related injury.
Today (August 24), an arrest warrant was issued for Andrews, who is currently incarcerated in Houston, Texas. Andrews will be extradited to Orleans Parish to face a charge of second-degree murder along with additional domestic-related charges.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
