NOPD Investigating Homicide in Sixth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (August 24, 2022) in the 2800 block of South Johnson Street that left one person dead.

At about 10:32 a.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on scene, at which time the signal was changed to a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
