NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (August 24, 2022) in the 11000 block of Chef Menteur Highway that left one person dead.

At about 6:42 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 4600 block of Nottingham Drive. Upon arrival, officers located in a wooded area behind the initial location an unresponsive adult female that had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on scene and the signal was changed to a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
