The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (August 17, 2022) in the 7700 block of Haney Drive that left one person dead.
At about 5:05 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject lying in the road and having sustained a gunshot wound(s). The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Multiple individuals have been detained for questioning in this investigation. As of this writing, no arrests have been made
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
