NOPD Investigating Homicide in Second District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (August 24, 2022) in the 8800 block of Pritchard Place that left one person dead.

At about 7:37 a.m., NOPD Second District officers responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male found to have a gunshot wound(s). The victim was declared deceased on scene, at which time the signal was changed to a homicide.

A subject was detained for interview at the scene. No suspects have been identified or arrests made in this investigation as of this writing.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
