NOPD Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in the early hours today (August 15, 2022) at the intersection of North Robertson and Music streets that left one person dead.

At about 2:17 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers were flagged down by witnesses who reported a hit and run suspect vehicle at the intersection of Franklin Avenue at Marais Street. Officers detained the male driver of the suspect vehicle and determined that the vehicle had struck a pedestrian walking in the eastbound lanes of North Robertson Street at Music streets.

Upon arrival at that location, officers discovered an unresponsive male subject lying in the roadway. The victim was declared deceased on scene.

The male suspect was transported to NOPD's Special Operations Division for testing of possible intoxication. Charges are pending.

The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
