Listed below are significant arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between August 21-27, 2022, in criminal investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

• On August 25, a collaborative effort between the NOPD’s Homicide Unit and Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals resulted in the arrest of wanted suspect Jessie Hughes (black male, DOB: 10-23-1989). Hughes was wanted by the NOPD in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on September 20, 2021, in the 4300 block of Tchoupitoulas Street. Located in Austell, Ga., Hughes was arrested on one count of second-degree murder.

First District

• On August 26, NOPD First District officers arrested Jenero Henry (black male, DOB: 04-21-2003) for illegal carrying of a weapon and possession of a stolen firearm. The arrest was made in the investigation of an incident that day in the 3300 block of Tulane Avenue.

Second District

• On August 24, NOPD Second District officers arrested Michael Tobias (black male, DOB: 01-21-1990) for attempted murder and aggravated burglary. The arrest was made in the investigation of a shooting that occurred on August 21 in the 8400 block of Palm Street.

Third District

• On August 22, the NOPD arrested India Ballard (black female, DOB: 02-19-2000), Kayla Lazard (black female, DOB:  01-15-2004), a 17-year-old juvenile black male, a 17-year-old juvenile black female and Tyriq Bencel (black male, DOB: 01/08/2000) on charges including possession of stolen property, prohibited acts – Schedule II CDS, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, prohibited acts – Schedule IV CDS, auto theft and possession of a Schedule I CDS with intent to distribute. The arrests were made in the investigation of an incident that day in the 4900 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

Fourth District

• On August 22, NOPD Fourth District officers arrested Jakuan Collins (black male, DOB: 11-23-1993) for felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm and simple battery. The arrest was made in the investigation of an aggravated assault incident on June 16, 2021, in the 3000 block of Copernicus Street.
• On August 27, NOPD Fourth District officers arrested Robin Sanchez (black female, DOB; 01-16-1971) for aggravated assault with a firearm. The arrest was made in the investigation of an incident that day in the 3400 block of Garden Oaks Drive.

Seventh District

• On August 21, NOPD Seventh District officers arrested Elton Phillips (black male, DOB: 09-11-1987) and Jerrin Cross (black male, DOB; 06-01-1995) on multiple drug-related charges and resisting an officer. The arrests were made in the investigation of an incident that day in the 6700 block of Cindy Place.

Eighth District

• Eighth District officers arrested the following suspects on the respective dates, each charged with illegal possession of a firearm:
  • Rhyen Brisco (black male, DOB: 02-01-2022), arrested on August 27 in the 300 block of Bourbon Street.
  • Keenon Brual (black male, DOB; 05-19-1992), arrested on August 27 in the 400 block of Bourbon Street.
  • Perry Powe (black male, DOB; 07-03-1998), arrested on August 27 in the 400 block of Bourbon.
  • Shabobby Richardson (black male, DOB: 09-28-2000), arrested on August 27 in the 600 block of Bourbon Street.
  • Tommie Yarls (black male, DOB: 04-27-1993), arrested on August 26 at the intersection of Conti and Bourbon streets.
  • Dandre Noel (black male, DOB: 12-06-2000), arrested on August 21 in the 500 block of Bourbon Street.

• On August 23, NOPD Eighth District officers arrested Tony Holmes (black male, DOB: 03-05-1994) for possession of a Schedule I CDS (marijuana) with intent to distribute. The arrest was made in the investigation of an incident that day in the 700 block of Canal Street.
• On August 23, NOPD Eighth District officers arrested Robert Robinson (black male, DOB: 02-12-1984) for prohibited acts – Schedule II CDS (crack cocaine), felon in possession of a firearm and for illegal carrying of a firearm while in possession of a CDS. The arrest came in the investigation of an incident that day at the intersection of Conti and Bourbon streets.
• On August 22, NOPD Eighth District officers arrested Omorion Sullivan (black male, DOB: 09-20-2000) for illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of a Schedule I CDS with intent to distribute and for resisting arrest. The arrest was made in the investigation of an incident that day in the 700 block of Common Street.
