NOPD Investigating Homicide on Alabo Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred last night, August 2, 2018, in the 900 block of Alabo Street.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at a residence in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim on the front porch suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The 27-year-old male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death for the deceased victim and release the deceased victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
