NOPD Investigating a Fatal Stabbing on North Dorgenois Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred today (August 26, 2018) in the 1700 block of North Dorgenois Street.

At about 6:00 p.m., First District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by cutting in the area. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male victim was involved in a physical altercation with another male. The victim was later found lying on the ground in the 1700 block of North Dorgenois Street and suffering from a stab wound to the upper torso area. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Officers located a person of interest, he was transported to the NOPD homicide office to be interviewed.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
