NOPD Arrests Suspect in Fatal Stabbing on North Dorgenois Street

The NOPD has arrested Kelvin Boykins (DOB: 06-23-1969) in connection with the homicide of a 53-year-old male victim that occurred on August 26, 2018 in the 1700 block of North Dorgenois Street.

Boykins was identified as a person of interest soon after the incident and was later located in the 2500 block of Franklin Avenue. He was subsequently transported to NOPD homicide unit to be interviewed. Boykins was later booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for second degree murder.

At about 6:00 p.m., First District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by cutting in the area. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male victim was involved in a physical altercation with another male. The victim was later found lying on the ground in the 1700 block of North Dorgenois Street and suffering from a stab wound to the upper torso area. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Upon further investigation, detectives developed and positively identified Boykins as the perpetrator and obtained a warrant for his arrest for second degree murder in connection with this incident.
