VOWS Unit Apprehends Four Suspects

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) unit arrested three adults and one juvenile today, including suspects wanted in connection with armed robbery, robbery and aggravated assault.

 

Malcolm Smith (DOB: 10/15/1992) for simple robbery.  The incident occurred in the 4800 block of Haydel Street on July 28, 2017, and Smith was arrested in the 4700 block of Reynes Street.

 

Joshua Badon (DOB: 10/24/1993) for aggravated assault with a firearm. The incident took place in the 12000 block of North I-10  Service Road on August 11, 2017, and he was arrested at the same location.

 

Frederick Davis (DOB: 10/14/1998) for armed robbery. The incident took place at Hayne Boulevard and Downman Road on June 20, 2017. Davis was arrested in the 6800 block of Tara Lane.

 

The VOWS Unit also arrested a 13-year-old male for aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.  The incident occurred at Virgilan Street and South Laverne Street on June 16, 2017, and he was arrested in the 2300 block of Dumaine Street.

The Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) is responsible for tracking down individuals who are wanted for serious crimes and apprehending suspects with outstanding warrants. This unit operates within the NOPD’s Special Operations Division and works in conjunction with the United States Marshals Office Fugitive Task Force. In 2016 the unit was responsible for more than 500 arrests.
