Crystal Meth, Handgun Found on Suspect Selling Drugs on Dumaine Street

The NOPD First District arrested Marquin Lewis (DOB: 04-07-1989) after he was seen selling crystal meth out of an abandoned vehicle in the 2600 block of Dumaine Street.

On August 3, 2017 at about 5 p.m., First District General Assignment officers received a call from a concerned citizen about unknown subjects selling narcotics in the area. While conducting surveillance of the area, officers observed Marquin Lewis conduct a hand-to-hand transaction.  After conducting the transaction, Lewis then relocated toward a silver Nissan Murano parked in the block. As officers were approaching Lewis, they discovered the vehicle to be abandoned due to the flat tires and spider webs in and around the vehicle.

Lewis then told police he found the keys to the vehicle on the ground a few days ago but he did not own the vehicle. Through the course of the investigation, officers found 15 grams of crystal meth and a Sig Sauer handgun in the vehicle.  Officers decided to tow the vehicle while on scene since it was in a hazardous state.

Lewis was booked and charged accordingly. Lewis was also found to be in possession of $370 in cash. He is currently a convicted felon on parole for accessory to second degree murder.
