New Orleans – The New Orleans Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run traffic incident that occurred on April 17, 2026 at approximately 8:09 a.m., at the intersection of General Meyer Avenue and Farragut Street in the Fourth District.
According to investigators, a white Jeep Cherokee of an unknown year was traveling westbound on General Meyer Avenue when it struck a 13-year-old special needs child who was attempting to cross the street on the way to school. The impact caused the victim to be thrown approximately 10 feet from the point of collision. The juvenile victim was transported to a local hospital for trauma treatment.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping to render aid. The vehicle is believed to have sustained front-end damage and was not displaying a license plate at the time of the incident.
