Suspect Wanted by the NOPD Auto Theft Unit

New Orleans Police are asking the public's assistance with locating a suspect wanted for illegal possession of stolen property.

Wanted is David Leonard (pictured), White male, DOB 10/02/1975.  He is wanted in New Orleans for illegal possession of stolen things and VIN alteration/removal.

According to investigators, on April 3, 2025 NOPD Auto Theft detectives assisted Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies with serving a search warrant at an address in the 7700 block of Mercier Street.  The warrant was seeking a trailer stolen earlier from a location in Jefferson Parish. That trailer was not located, but other suspicious vehicles and another suspicious trailer were identified by the search at the location. Further investigation later confirmed the property had been stolen from locations in Jefferson and Saint Charles parishes.

For details about the thefts please make contact with the Jefferson and Saint Charles Parish Sheriff's Offices.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of David Leonard is asked to call NOPD Auto Theft detectives at 504-658-5646 or to anonymously call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
