NOPD Arrests Juvenile Suspect in Homicide Investigation

Today (April 6, 2022), the NOPD – assisted by the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office -  arrested a 13-year-old juvenile male suspect (not pictured) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on March 31, 2022, in the 10000 block of Almonaster Avenue.

At about 6:57 a.m. on March 31, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a medical call in the 1000 block of Almonaster Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male victim lying on the ground and found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as a 14-year-old juvenile male.

As the investigation progressed, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified the juvenile suspect as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder.

Today, the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted NOPD in executing a search warrant at a residence in Chalmette, LA, where the juvenile was located and arrested without incident. The suspect was transported to the St. Bernard Parish Juvenile Center and later transferred to the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center in New Orleans, where he was booked accordingly.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Det. Miles Guirreri at 504-658-5300.
