NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between April 17-23

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between April 17-23, 2022. in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On April 19, 2022, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Montreal Baham (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-02-1995) on two counts of second-degree murder. The incident occurred on April 19 in the 2400 block of A.P. Tureaud Avenue.
  • On April 21, Tyron Davis (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-21-2002) surrendered to NOPD Homicide Unit detectives and was booked on one count of second-degree murder and on additional weapons and narcotics charges. The arrest was made in connection with a homicide on April 9, 2022, in the 3700 block of Herschel Street.
  • On April 21, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Jovhan Lane (pictured, black male, DOB: 11-21-2002) for two counts of second-degree murder, along with additional weapons and narcotics charges. The arrests were made in connection with two homicide incidents – one on March 23, 2022, in the 7900 block of Dorsett Drive and another on April 2, 2022, in the 5000 block of Henri Drive.
  • On April 21, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives announced that an arrest warrant had been obtained for Ray Farria (not pictured, black male, DOB: 12-21-1985) on one count of second-degree murder. The incident occurred on April 17, 2017, in the 6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway. Farria is currently in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections, where he is serving a sentence in a separate case out of Jefferson Parish.

Shooting

  • On April 19, NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and Sixth District detectives, assisted by the U.S. Marshals, arrested Ta’Darryl C. Cobbins Sr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 07-10-2002) for one count of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated second-degree battery and on one count each of armed robbery, illegal carrying of weapons and illegal use of a weapon. The arrest came in connection with an aggravated battery by shooting incident that occurred on December 31, 2021, in the 2200 block of Terpsichore Street.
  • NOPD Second District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Brian M. Richards (not pictured, black male, DOB: 07-06-1993) for aggravated second-degree battery, illegal carrying of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm. The warrant is in connection with the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting on April 23, 2022, in the 8200 block of Pritchard Place. Armed Robbery /Carjacking

  • On April 23, a joint operation between NOPD Second District, NOPD Fourth District and NOPD Violent Crime Abatement and Investigative Team led to the arrest of a 16-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) on a charge of armed robbery. The incident occurred on April 22, 2022, in the 8200 block of Palm Street  The juvenile suspect is currently incarcerated in Jefferson Parish on multiple charges and will be booked accordingly upon transfer to Orleans Parish.
  • On April 22, NOPD Third District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Cortez Martin (pictured, black male, DOB. 04-20-2001) for armed robbery. The warrant comes in the investigation of an incident that occurred on April 18, 2022, in the 2300 block of Myrtle Street. Anyone with information on Richards’ whereabouts is asked to call NOPD Third District detectives at 504-658-6030 or Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111.
  • On April 23, NOPD Fifth District officers arrested Brionte Cousan (not pictured, black female, DOB: 04-11-1997) on charges of principle to armed robbery and principle to aggravated battery.  The warrant was issued in connection with the investigation of an incident on April 23, 2022, in the 1200 block of Tupelo Street. Investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing, with additional arrests expected.
