NOPD Seeking Vehicle of Interest in Simple Robbery in Eighth District

The NOPD is requesting assistance from the public in identifying or locating a vehicle of interest sought in connection with a simple robbery that occurred on April 20, 2018 near the intersection of Poydras Street and Convention Center Boulevard.

The victim told police that at about midnight, he was in the 200 block of Bourbon Street attempting to secure a ride and offered $20 to anyone who could bring him back to a ship at the Port of New Orleans before curfew. The victim was able to flag down a dark-colored four-door vehicle, in which two unknown black males were sitting in the front seats. The victim said as he entered the car, he handed the driver the aforementioned cash. The subjects reportedly drove the victim to the intersection of Poydras Street and Convention Center Boulevard, telling him he could walk from there to the port. At that time, the victim said, he was hesitant to leave the vehicle. A review of surveillance video from the area showed the subject in the vehicle’s front passenger seat exit the vehicle, open the rear passenger door and attempted to extract the victim. The victim was then seen exiting the vehicle. A fight then ensued between the two individuals, at which time the male subject pulled the victim to the ground and returned to the vehicle. The vehicle then fled on Poydras Street.

Surveillance images are included of the vehicle allegedly involved in this incident.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
