NOPD Investigates Homicide on Erato Street

NOPD Investigates Homicide on Erato Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide in the Sixth District that took the life of an unknown male victim early this morning (April 16).

At around 6:09 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to shots fired in the 1300 block of Galvez Street. Upon arrival to the area, they discovered a male victim in the driver seat of a dark-gray SUV suffering from a gunshot wound to the head in the 3600 block of Erato Street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Investigators believed the incident occurred near the intersection of Rocheblave and Thalia Streets.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. 

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
