NOPD Investigating Fatal Triple Shooting on Athis Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal triple shooting that occurred tonight (April 18, 2017) in the 2200 block of Athis Street and claimed the life of one victim.

At about 9:17 p.m., Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive black female and a second black female, both lying at the front of a residence and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers also discovered a male victim inside the residence also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The unresponsive female victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second female victim and the male victim were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
