The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred today (April 8, 2017) in the 600 block of South Scott Street.
At about 2:28 p.m., First District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male victim lying on the sidewalk and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
