NOPD Arrests Suspect Caught Spray Painting the St. Louis Cathedral

NOPD’s Eighth District officers caught Thomas Stewart (DOB: 06-24-93) after he was seen spray painting graffiti on the St. Louis Cathedral.

The incident happened on April 10, 2017. At around 1:15 a.m., the arrested subject was observed by a Jackson Square security guard spray painting graffiti on the side of the Cathedral.  A state police unit arrived on scene to investigate, however, the arrested subject fled the location. At that time, a description of the arrested subject was then broadcast over the NOPD radio. Stewart was described as wearing all black clothing, a black baseball hat and a green mask on his face during the incident.

Eighth District officer Duncan observed a Stewart, matching the description and walking south on Bourbon Street at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Toulouse Street. The arrested subject was then relocated to the NOPD Eighth District station where he was positively identified by the Jackson Square security guard as the perpetrator of the crime.

If anyone has any other information on this Stewart, please contact the Eighth District station at 504-658-6080. Citizens with information that can help solve a crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at  504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
