Have Coffee with Cops This Saturday

On Saturday morning, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a free cup of coffee with NOPD officers at six McDonald’s restaurant locations in New Orleans.

Coffee with Cops” will take place Saturday, April 22, 2017, from 9 – 11 a.m. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet with neighborhood patrol officers and enjoy a free cup of coffee. The popular community policing event is a public-private partnership designed to bring together police officers and the communities they serve.

This is the seventh “Coffee with Cops” event held since the program started in June 2016. Hundreds of community members have interacted with officers and learned new ways that they can be more active in their neighborhoods.

Six McDonald’s locations in New Orleans are participating in the event, including:

  • 3025 Elysian Fields Ave.
  • 1918 N. Broad Street
  • 2757 Canal Street
  • 3443 S. Carrollton Ave.
  • 711 Canal Street
  • 2856 S. Claiborne Ave.

McDonald’s Owner/Operator Continues to Highlight Outstanding Officers

In addition to hosting several of this month’s “Coffee with Cops” events, Chris Bardell, a local McDonald’s owner and operator, will announce the NOPD Officer of the Month Award for April. Bardell started the program in October 2016 as a way to recognize a NOPD officer for going above and beyond the call of duty on the job.

As part of the recognition, Bardell awards this month's officer a $750 scholarship that the officer can use to participate in police training and leadership programs across the country. The award will be presented by Bardell and Chris Hart, Commander of NOPD’s Tactical Intelligence Gathering and Response (TIGER) unit  at the 3025 Elysian Fields Avenue restaurant.
