NOPD to Conduct Upcoming Sobriety Checkpoint

The NOPD’s Traffic Division will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Orleans Parish. The checkpoint will operate between the hours of 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022, through 5 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022.

NOPD Joins NOFD, NOEMS in The Blood Center’s & WDSU’s Annual Battle of The Badges Blood Drive on Sept. 9

The NOPD will once again join forces with The Blood Center and WDSU-TV for the annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive, taking place from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of WDSU’s studios at 846 Howard Avenue.

During the Labor Day holiday, including the end of summertime and the busy Labor Day weekend, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is working alongside the law enforcement community in New Orleans to decrease impaired driving.

NOPD Has New Five Crime Scene Investigators

The New Orleans Police Department’s Crime Lab Division has just trained five new Crime Scene Investigators. This three-week classroom training is comprehensive of crime scene processing and evidence collection. The investigators will now start their three-month field training.
