NOPD Gearing Up for 12th Annual Horses, Hops, and Cops

NEW ORLEANS - The NOPD, Louisiana Hospitality Foundation and Southern Eagle are gearing up for the 12th Annual Horses, Hops, and Cops fundraiser to benefit the NOPD Mounted Division.  The event, scheduled to take place on February 16, 2022 at the NOPD stables on Harrison Avenue, is a free and family-friendly event open to all ages and an opportunity to meet the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales.

Update on Ongoing Investigation into NOPD Secondary Employment Details

Today, the NOPD reached agreements with several officers who had been found to be in violation of policy regarding secondary employment. These officers were found to have committed minor infractions of the departmental policy.

As part of the individual agreements, these officers will each serve two-day suspensions and receive letters of reprimand, which will go into their permanent records. Per NOPD policy, officers may utilize furlough days in lieu of suspension for up to 10 days.

City of New Orleans Announces Route Changes for Mardi Gras 2022 Parades

The City of New Orleans has announced changes to Mardi Gras parade routes for the 2022 parading season that begins February 18, 2022.

The changes were made after extensive consultation and planning between all involved public safety agencies including NOPD, NOFD, EMS, and Homeland Security.

Additionally, Mardi Gras krewes were involved in the planning process to make the necessary changes equitable.
