NOPD to Conduct Upcoming Sobriety Checkpoints June 9, June 23

The NOPD Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints in Orleans Parish on Thursday, June 9, 2022, and on Thursday, June 23, 2022. The checkpoints will operate from 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, to 5 a.m. on Friday, June 10; and from 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, to 5 a.m. on Friday, June 24.

NOPD Announces Return of Juvenile Curfew for Summer Months

As of June 1, 2022, the NOPD has resumed enforcing a curfew for juveniles ages 17 and under during the summer months in the City of New Orleans. Through August 31, 2022, curfew hours for unsupervised juveniles ages 17 and under will be enforced between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday. These hours will be in effect citywide except for the French Quarter, which has a year-round unsupervised juvenile curfew from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

NOPD Announces Plans for Summer Deployment

NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson today (May 12, 2022) announced plans to bolster deployment of law enforcement officers during the coming summer months, including assistance from Louisiana State Police through a return of “Operation Golden Eagle” and implementing a 12-hour shift for all field operations district-based officers for the summer.

NOPD, Federal Consent Decree Monitors to Present at Public Hearing April 20

The NOPD and the Federal Consent Decree Monitors will hold a public hearing today (April 20, 2022) to discuss the department's progress to come into full compliance with the ongoing Federal Consent Decree. Superintendent Shaun Ferguson will be in attendance, as well as other NOPD and Consent Decree Monitor personnel.

NOPD to Take Part in Nationwide “Buckle Up in Your Truck” Awareness Campaign

The NOPD will be partnering with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for the “Buckle-Up in Your Truck” campaign, which will span from April 23- April 30.
