Today (May 13, 2025) the NOPD – aided by the U.S. Marshals and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office – arrested Evans Rogers (black male, DOB: 05-01-2006) in its investigation of an attempted homicide incident that occurred on May 12, 2025, in the 1600 block of Elizardi Boulevard.

During a press conference on May 6, NOPD Superintendent Anne E. Kirkpatrick addressed the department’s continued efforts to fight crime in the city, citing data compiled by the department’s Analytics Unit that show a continued significant decrease in both overall violent crime as well as in respective subcategories.

Joined by its law enforcement partners at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, the NOPD today (May 6, 2025) held a media briefing to discuss the current results of an ongoing multi-agency operation focusing on removing criminals, illegal narcotics and firearms from the streets of the city.

The NOPD today (April 23, 2025) arrested Jamal Washington (black male, DOB: 05-17-1978) in its investigation of two homicide incidents, both occurring on July 31, 2024.

The NOPD this morning (April 10, 2025) apprehended an armed subject after a multi-hour standoff with police in the 900 block of Royal Street in an incident believed to be tied to a homicide that occurred earlier in the evening.
