NHTSA, NOPD Team Up For “Click It or Ticket” Seat Belt Enforcement Campaign During Thanksgiving Holidays

This Thanksgiving holiday, the NOPD is teaming up with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on a high-visibility Click It or Ticket seat belt awareness campaign. From November 18-November 25, the law enforcement community will be working together to reduce the number of fatalities that occur when vehicle passengers fail to buckle up. If they spot you, they will pull you over and issue a ticket.

NOPD Preparing For Potential Visibility Issues for Drivers on November 9

As the New Orleans Metro area and surrounding parishes will be under another dense fog advisory this evening (November 8, 2023) into the morning hours tomorrow (November 9, 2023), the NOPD is working with multiple local, area and state entities to prepare for low visibility conditions. This includes areas that have seen a combination of marsh fire smoke and fog in recent days, in particular in the eastern area of New Orleans.
