NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between May 8-14

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between May 8-14, 2022, in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Homicide

  • On May 10, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Terry Blanks (pictured, black male, DOB: 02-26-1989) on one count of second-degree murder. The arrest came in the investigation of a homicide on May 5 in the 1900 block of Saint Ann Street.
  • On May 8, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives arrested Dwayne Smith (pictured, black male, DOB: 03-06-1990) on one count of second-degree murder. The arrest came in the investigation of a homicide on May 8 in the 1000 block of Lamanche Street.

Shooting

  • On May 13, wanted suspect Joshua K. Bass Sr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 01-19-1997) turned himself in to NOPD on charges of negligent injuring, illegal use of a weapon and obstruction of justice. The arrest came in connection with the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting incident on May 4 at the intersection of Governor Nicholls and Decatur streets.

Armed Robbery /Carjacking

  • On May 11, NOPD Seventh District officers arrested Monte Jupiter (pictured, black male, DOB: 11-18-2003) for armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery and simple assault. The arrest was made in connection with an incident on May 11 in the 14700 block of Chef Menteur Highway.
  • On May 11, NOPD Third District officers arrested Jeremy Stokes (pictured, black male, 11-27-1984) for armed robbery. The arrest was made in connection with an incident that occurred on May 9 in the 3100 block of Gentilly Boulevard.
  • On May 9, the NOPD arrested Lloyd Justin (pictured, black male, DOB: 12-16-1960) for illegal carrying of a firearm. After his arrest, further evidence led NOPD Third District detectives to positively identify Justin as the perpetrator of an armed robbery on May 5 in the 3100 block of Gentilly Boulevard. Lloyd was booked on the additional charge.
  • On May 9, NOPD Third District detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Maurice Butler (not pictured, black male, DOB: 03-14-1988) for armed robbery with a firearm. The warrant was obtained in the investigation of an incident on May 8 at the intersection of Leon C. Simon Boulevard and Saint Roch Avenue. Anyone with information on Butler’s whereabouts is asked to call NOPD Third District detectives at 504-658-6030 or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111.
