NOPD Investigating Homicide in Sixth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred on June 19, 2022 in the 1800 block of Camp Street that left both a victim and the suspected perpetrator dead.

At about 9:22 p.m. on June 19, NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a requested wellness check for the occupants of a residence in the block. Upon arrival to the location, officers entered the residence and located an unresponsive adult male and unresponsive adult female both with gunshot wounds. Both subjects were declared deceased on scene.

Through further investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives determined the female subject’s gunshot wound to be self-inflicted and found the female subject to be in possession of a firearm. Based on these developments, the female subject was determined to be the perpetrator in the shooting of the male victim.

The investigation into this incident has been cleared by exception. No further information is currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the deceased subjects and determine official cause of death upon completion of autopsy.

Anyone with any additional information on this incident is asked to call NOPD Homicide Unit detectives at 504-658-5300.
