Suspect Wanted in Attempted Sexual Assault on Canal Street

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in locating and identifying a subject believed to be responsible for an attempted sexual assault that occurred on September 7, 2017 in the 2000 block of Canal Street.

The pictured individual is alleged to have forced a female victim into a bathroom stall and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim struggled to fight the subject off and was successful. The victim then fled the bathroom and called for help. The subject was captured by video surveillance fleeing the location.

The subject is described as a black male believed to be about 40 year standing about 5’7” and weighing about 180 pounds with a medium build, a low haircut and a beard.
