NOPD VOWS Officers Make Arrests in Multiple Incidents

Members of the NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad have arrested four individuals who were wanted in connection with multiple incidents.

On September 25, 2017, VOWS officers arrested Dijon Dixon, (DOB: 08-14-1975) in connection with two simple burglary incidents – one that occurred on July 4, 2017 in the 6800 block of Louis XIV Street and another that occurred on June 23, 2017 in the 6300 block of Marshal Foch Street. Dixon was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on two counts of simple burglary. A photo of Dixon was not available. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Third District detectives at 504-658-6030.

Also on September 25, 2017, VOWS Unit officers and U.S. Marshals arrested Eldred Johnson (DOB: 06-29-1969) in connection with an aggravated battery by cutting that occurred in the 2100 block of Benefit Street on September 2, 2017. Johnson was arrested in Jefferson Parish and transported and booked there on a charge of aggravated battery by cutting. Also on September 25, VOWS officers arrested Kyle Lyndon Blunt Jr. (DOB: 12-24-1996) in connection with a home invasion that occurred on September 14, 2017 in the 13400 block of North Nemours Street. A photo of Blunt was not available. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.

On September 26, 2017, the VOWS Unit just arrested Kendrick Smothers (DOB: 11-21-1986) in connection with a homicide that occurred on May 15, 2017 in the 200 block of North Rendon Street. As investigation into the incident progressed, Smothers was developed as a suspect. Smothers was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on a charge of second degree murder. In addition, Smothers was also arrested on a probation violation. Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Detective Rayell Johnson at 504-658-5300.
