The New Orleans Police Department would like to thank everyone who showed support to officers during the second annual Geaux Blue Day.
NOPD officers and their families kicked off Geaux Day with a private evening at the Carousel Amusement Park at New Orleans City Park on Tuesday (Sept. 12) for a night to show them how much they're appreciated.
The event included free rides and free food from City Park concessions, Theo’s, Raising Canes, Martin Wine Cellar, Lucky Dogs, Domino's Pizza, Sheraton Hotel, Oceana Grill, Coca-Cola and Quintin's Ice Cream. Activities included face painting, animals from Audubon Nature Institute ZOOMobile, and arts and crafts with sponsor Expressive Art Solutions.
Geaux Blue Day (Sept. 13) was a collaborative effort by New Orleans residents, businesses and City leaders to bring officers and their families together and show them support in light of events happening across the country. This is the second year in what will continue to become the biggest annual event to honor police officers in our city.
“On behalf of the men and women of the NOPD, we’d like to thank all of our friends and neighbors for all the love and support they continue to show us," said Superintendent Michael Harrison. " And we’re grateful to the businesses, corporate partners, and community groups who came together to make this year’s event such a tremendous success.”
Additional sponsors during Geaux Blue Day events included: the New Orleans City Council, NOPD Officer Assistance Program, New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation,
COPS8, the New Orleans Children’s Museum, the National WW2 Museum and Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans, Xavier University, Outfront Media Marco Advertising Company, New Orleans Saints, LA Restaurant Association, Greater New Orleans Hotel Lodging Association, Royal Sonesta, Hotel Monteleone and Homewood Suites.
The NOPD would also like to thank all residents, schools and businesses who brought treats, made thank you cards or decorated their homes and businesses to show their support to our officers.
