NOPD Invites Residents to Enjoy a Free Cup of Coffee with Patrol Officers this Saturday

This Saturday, October 1, 2016, residents and visitors are invited to come out to participating McDonald’s restaurant locations in New Orleans for the third Coffee with Cops event. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., attendees will have an opportunity to meet with neighborhood patrol officers and enjoy a free cup of coffee. The popular community policing event is a public-private partnership that aims to bring together police officers and the communities they serve.

Participating McDonald’s locations include:

  • 3443 South Carrollton Avenue (Second District)
  • 3250 General DeGaulle Drive (Fourth District)
  • 2856 South Claiborne Avenue (Sixth District)
  • 711 Canal Street (Eighth District)

First Officer of the Month to be announced by one McDonald's owner

In addition to hosting one of the Coffee with Cops locations, Chris Bardell, a local McDonald’s owner and operator, will launch an NOPD Officer of the Month Award. Starting with October, Bardell will recognize an NOPD officer for going above and beyond the call of duty on the job. As part of the recognition, Bardell will award the winning officer with a $750 scholarship that the officer can use to participate in police training and leadership programs across the country. The first Officer of the Month award will be announced at the McDonald’s located at 711 Canal Street.

Earlier this year, the ownership of multiple  McDonald’s restaurants partnered with the NOPD’s recruitment campaign by featuring recruitment advertisements on paper tray liners served to dine-in customers at dozens of restaurants across the New Orleans region.
