NOPD Investigating Homicide in Sixth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred on October 4, 2023, at the intersection of Saint Thomas and Saint Andrew streets that left one victim dead and a second injured.

At about 8:54 p.m. on October 4, NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a scene but found no victims. Officers soon after were advised of two male gunshot wound victims that arrived at local hospitals at approximately the same time. Upon further investigation, it was determined that both had sustained gunshot wounds in the same incident. One of the victims was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victims and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
