NOPD Adds More Testing Dates for Out-of-Town Applicants After Demand Soars

Due to an overwhelming response, the NOPD has added additional pre-scheduled Police Recruit testing dates for out-of-town applicants. The bundled process, which includes the multiple choice exam, writing exercise, physical agility test and panel interviews, will also be available November 2-4 and November 16-18. Non-resident applicants must apply with Civil Service and submit copies of the required documents to be scheduled for testing.

There were three out-of-towner testing dates scheduled for the remainder of 2016, but those filled up quickly so the NOPD worked with the Civil Service Department to create the additional testing opportunities.

Local residents can take the multiple choice exam and writing exercise Monday – Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Civil Service (1340 Poydras Street, Suite 900), and afternoon testing is available at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Sunday testing is available by appointment; call 504-658-3500.

Non-local applicants can sign-up for testing through the online application: http://www.nola.gov/civil-service/jobs/join-the-nopd/apply/. For more information about the process email kmmarx@nola.gov.

The department will launch two more training academy recruit classes in 2016. For more information visit JoinNOPD.org.
