The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals today (November 17, 2023) arrested Carl Wilson (black male, DOB: 03-06-1985) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on November 7, 2023, in the 8600 block of Castle Court.

At about 11:28 p.m. on November 7, NOPD Seventh District detectives responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified black female unresponsive on the ground suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers attempted to render aid. EMS arrived on scene and declared the victim deceased.

On November 10, 2023, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 39-year-old Cassie Picquet and determined cause of death to be from gunshot-related injuries.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Wilson as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder.

NOPD VOWS and the U.S. Marshals located and arrested Wilson today in the 3600 block of Coliseum Drive. Wilson was subsequently booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
